OVERVIEW
- Magic is a form of energy that flows through living things in Evernoll. Magic is both internal and external — it circulates through the body and can be channeled outward as a visible, tangible force. It can also be stored within objects, giving rise to charm-making, where magic is infused into objects for one-time use.
- Most people in Evernoll are born with the ability to use magic, though the strength and expression of that magic differ among individuals and races. In some rare instances, some may not be born with the ability to use magic
- Most people possess basic magical ability, while more advanced spells and techniques require years of training and discipline.
- Using magic drains one’s energy, much like physical exertion, and rest is essential to recover one’s strength.

LEYLINES
- Magic was born from Evernoll’s Leylines — vast root-like streams of energy beneath the soil that act as the world’s veins, carrying magic through the land. These Leylines connect magic with nature, shaping the world and its lifeforms.
- In the past prior to the rise of civilization, magic flowed wild and unfiltered across Evernoll, leading to anomalies in nature itself — lands floated, terrain shifted, and the laws of physics bent in unpredictable ways.
- In regions where they run strong, flora and fauna brim with magical properties; when a Leyline surfaces, its leaking energy can cause brief surges of unstable magic that alter the surroundings.

SPECIES/RACE MAGIC
Each race in Evernoll manifests magic in its own way:
- Humanoids — Channels magical proficiency through force magic, spellcasting magic and relic magic. Many use magic on a fundemental level, excelling at using external mediums to use magic
- Elves — Channels magical proficiency through Elemental magic. Many possess a natural affinity with nature, allowing them a easier time at manipulating elemental magic.
- Critterfolk — Born with traits of their animal counterparts. Their animal traits act as natural vessels for Instinct Magic, enhancing their physical senses.
- Noxlins — Channel magical proficiency through shadow as a medium for travel and manipulation, allowing them to blend into darkness or form shadow limbs for combat and illusion.
- Valkins — Channels magical proficiency through the energy of light, often seen as natural opposites to Noxlins. They can emit faint glows in dark places and use light-based magic as a source of external energy as well as combat.

MAGIC TYPES
Magic in Evernoll appears in various types, each shaped by the medium through which it flows. All living beings carry traces of magical essence, though how one channels it determines the nature and strength of their craft.
- Force Magic — The most basic form of magic, channeled through manipulating the natural frequencies of the air and environment. Spellcasters adjust vibrations around them to influence movement and matter — from levitating small objects to generating bursts of force to push objects. Though simple in concept, mastering force magic requires precision and sensitivity to one’s surroundings.
- Elemental Magic — Magic channeled through natural elements such as fire, water, or plant life. Practitioners attune themselves to the flow of magic within these elements, allowing themselves to bend nature to their will.
- Relic Magic — Magic channeled through external tools such as charms, potions, or other crafted objects. The user infuses spells or raw essence into physical objects, storing magic for later activation.
- Spellcasting Magic — A structured form of Force Magic, created by Ancient civilizations from the need to stabilize natural chaos. Spellcasting channels magic through written inscriptions or verbal incantations, allowing casters to record and safely reproduce specific frequencies of magic.
- Healing Magic — A restorative form of magic that involves the transfer one’s own magical essence into another being. It can rapidly speed the healing of wounds, replenish energy, or sustain those on the brink of collapse. However, the process comes at great personal cost, as the caster’s own life force is gradually drained in exchange.
- Instinct Magic — A form of magic channeled through one’s body rather than external mediums. Common among Critterfolk, this innate energy enhances their physical traits and senses, granting abilities such as heightened agility, strength, or perception.
